Together in Motion: Move, Share, Belong

What makes walking easier, safer, and more enjoyable as we age?

We want older adults themselves to help answer that question.

On October 25, TrueNetwork Community Solutions Society will host Together in Motion, the first community co-creation event of our Metro Vancouver Walk and Connect initiative in City of Burnaby.

This project brings together healthy active aging, social connection, walking, and dementia-risk awareness in a way that is shaped directly by older adults.

Rather than designing a program for older adults, we want to build it with them. Through movement, music, food, conversation, and shared activities, participants will connect with one another and share their experiences of walking and getting around their community.

We want to hear about:

  • places people enjoy walking to
  • barriers that make walking more difficult
  • accessibility and safety
  • transportation and mobility
  • social connection and belonging
  • what could make walking more enjoyable and inclusive for older adults

This is the first step in the co-creation process. What we learn from participants will help shape the next stages of the project, including two guided walking and social connection experiences in Burnaby.

Along the way, we will also share accessible information about physical activity, social connection, healthy aging, and factors associated with dementia-risk awareness.
